I’ve had a few requests for an update on some of the WebbPets, most specifically Oscar and Igor. Oscar is his usual self. His heated cat house gets regular use, he still stares in at us and watches us like we are a zoo exhibit each day, and he is still as fussy as ever about his food. I can’t remember how many years we’ve been feeding and coexisting with Oscar, 4 or 5 at this point, and he still has no interest in coming in the house, or having any interactions with us at all aside from us feeding him according to his picky palette. On the other hand Oscar will hang out with Ewen, who has offered to chase him on more than one occasion. I don’t get it, but there’s much about Oscar I don’t get.
Oscar is happy to be near Ewen, but unhappy to be near us
Igor, the most recent addition to the WebbPet Empire, is doing well. Igor has now been to the vet twice, and has one last trip in a couple of weeks. He’ll get his final round of initial vaccinations, he will be neutered, and he will get his microchip. Igor becomes more energetic and playful with every day that goes by. We thought we realized how skinny and close to death he was when Jason and Carter found him, but now I think he was in even worse shape than we thought. He is still living in the office of the front barn until after his “tutoring.” We are undecided about his long term future. We’re leaning towards barn cat with 24/7 access to the heated/cooled office. I don’t know that Jingle and Joy would welcome him into the house, and I also don’t want to turn into the crazy cat family. The jury is still out on Igor’s long term career plan. In the meantime he’s gaining weight every day and looks and acts like a happy, healthy kitten and he seems happy to be a WebbPet.
